Our latest camping trip took us to Prospect Lake Park, located at 50 Prospect Rd in North Egremont Mass. Easily accessible from Route 7 and NY Route 22

It is a medium sized facility of 140 shaded sites along with a few rental cabins. As the name implies, it is located on Prospect Lake, a calm pristine body of water, perfect for boating, fishing and swimming.

The park uses a security gate and intercom system, and is relatively secure against unauthorized visitors just driving in. Campers receive an access card to use for their time there, after leaving a small deposit, refunded upon checkout. We checked in around 3pm on Friday, the check in process was quick and efficient. The staff was both friendly, and helpful. We were given our site assignment, and map of the premises and easily found our campsite. The sites seem to be easily accessible for maneuvering trailers. Our site was nicely shaded with an abundance of trees yet still ample room for backing ourselves in. After setting up camp, I took a stroll around the grounds, and found the campground well laid out, with plenty of privacy between sites. The small camp store was adequately stocked with the basics, though a little short on the frills. A nice rec. hall, adjacent to the offices and store has all the amenities to keep the young people happy, as well as the adults. We were located a very short distance from one of the restrooms, and it was very clean with free showers. Also located in the building were laundry facilities, other restroom buildings were adequately spaced around the campground.

There is a small private beach with a water slide for swimmers. Rentals of canoes, motor boats and paddle boats are available for a reasonable cost. The nearest town, Great Barrington Mass. Is located about 15 minutes form the campground, and has ample shopping and restaurants. Located nearby are numerous antique shops for browsing and picking up those little vacation treasures.

Overall Prospect Lake Park is a wonderful camping facility, quiet, private with plenty of things to do and I would highly recommend it for anyone heading to Southwestern Mass.
